Park Heffelfiger

Park has 25 years experience in the restaurant industry. He studied Hotel and Restaurant Management at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto. He went on to manage restaurants in a variety of cities and countries throughout the world. After a stint at Le Papillon Restaurant in London, U.K. and Tak Terrassen in Gothenberg, Sweden, Park landed in Vancouver, where he managed Bridges Restaurant. It was there that Park caught the wine bug, and he went on to study at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in London, and the International Wine Academy in Napa. Between trips to study in the U.K., he worked in Toronto at Le Select Bistro as a Sommelier. He revamped the wine list and rebuilt the cellar in the first of two major renovations.

Park then moved back to the west coast and managed several wine retail establishments including seven years as senior retail manager at Liberty Wine Merchants - B.C.'s largest independent private wine retailer. He co-founded the Vancouver Wine Academy in 1993. Since then, he has been consulting and teaching in the wine industry. He is currently teaching the International Sommelier Guild's Certification course in Victoria and the WSET courses in Vancouver. Park is in the process of opening his own restaurant in July 2001.
