Jason Ripley

After graduating from the University of Victoria with a degree in economics and coming very close to becoming a Chartered Accountant Jason discovered the beauty of wine while working at Il Terrazzo, a Victoria icon in the restaurant business.  He then took the job as Cellar Manager and continued to quench his thirst for wine knowledge and experience.  Graduating from the ISG diploma program in 2001, in the top 5 in Canada, lead to a two year experience as Sommelier at the Aerie Resort, a Relais & Chateaux property, perched high on the Malahat Drive.  With a desire to continue in the wine business, without the late nights of the restaurant, Jason joined the team at Renaissance Wine Merchants, an Alberta based wine distributor.  He later started his own distribution company on Vancouver Island, supplying some of BC’s best local wines to restaurants and private wine stores.  Jason now resides in Calgary, Alberta, working as an instructor for the ISG, teaching the wine fundamentals courses at SAIT, as well as being the sales manager for another distribution company, Foremost Wine Domaines.
